Alternate Approach to Dementia Patients
This video, posted on the BBC, describes a different approach to patients/residents of a dementia care home.
The administrators and staff try to present an environment that residents can relate to, even if it is not the ‘reality’ of the outside world.
I’ve frequently found it frustrating and counter-productive to try to ‘re-orient’ dementia patients; it is like the two of us banging our heads against the others perceptions.
Perhaps they (the dementia care home) have really hit on something.
